My name is Valerie Hoy. I live in Ohio and I really love art. It is really fun. I also sound very intellectual, don't I? I take art classes once a week after school. Then I scribble on the computer in my spare time.
I created these pictures over the years solely on the computer and was very proud of them, but alas! I had no one with whom I could share my accomplishments. Then one day my dad (who is a computer programmer) introduced me to the world of web page design. I started with a pathetic page about my cats, dog, and chickens, uploaded it, and never looked at it again. The pictures are just awful and the comments are boring, and, well, on the whole I hope you like this page better than my old one, which I am in the process of trying to remove from the internet. So now I am starting afresh with this hopefully more interesting web page.
To illustrate the progress that I have made over the years, let me show you my four apples:
Apple Number 1.
This was one of the first pics I made with my trusty PC Paintbrush. Notice
the rough texturing (of course, some of that is due to the fact that it's
a JPEG picture.) Notice the wobbly lines and the imperfect tablecloth.
Apple Number 2
After I learned the miracles of gradients, I gave my apple another shot.
It looks pretty cool, huh? (I called it coolapple)
Apple Number Three
After I learned the finer points of shading, and all the other nifty tools
that came with my paint program, I created my Apple, Mark Three. If
it wasn't so blurry, you would see the true mastery that this picture displays.
Apple Number 4
This is my final Applework. It is coolapple without the sun. It
is Apple three with perspective and an extra slice. In fact, it is
pretty boring. Oh, well.
I feel a little bit stupid because there are so many things that I don't know about my computer, or web page design, or art, or anything else. But if I lack knowledge, I still have enthusiasm, and hopefully that is enough. So that is my story. If there is anything else you want to know about me that I haven't included in this little summary, or if you feel you have some advice for me and my fairly illiterate ways, you can always...
